I finally got my hands on the palette that everyone has been going nuts over! Violet Voss' own Holy Grail palette. I will have a detailed breakdown of my shopping experience from purchase to application. This is not a sponsored post. This is my honest opinion!
This palette with the discount code I provided to you guys (holygrail10) cost $40. After tax (and shipping $8) it totaled $52. You entered your shipping information on the site then to pay, it took you to Paypal. I like this because there has been so many scandals with companies and stolen client card information etc. Paypal is extremely secure. God forbid you were to have an issue with your order, but you could just dispute with Paypal and they'd give you your money back right away.
I ordered this palette on April 1st. It came to me by way of US Postal Service (rolls eyes). It arrived yesterday, April 14th. 13 whole days to wait until my palette came. I was annoyed to say the least. Processing was apart of the issue as they didn't even put it in the mail until the 11th (what were y'all doing for ten whole days???).
There are 20 shades in the palette, and they had the cutest names! The pans were bigger than I expected, and the product was of a powder consistency. The colors were mostly warm toned with a few cool tone shades. The color theme was basically pinks, copper, golds, reds, plums and nudes. I picked 4 shades that appealed to me most (pictured below) and applied to my arm. The swatches I made were basically gone after 3 hours of them being on there. This means that when you apply to the eye, a primer is mandatory. The shadows were extremely pigmented. They seemed fairly blend-able.
So, I'm giving this palette 3/5 stars. Here's why: In addition to this palette taking FOREVER to get here, the colors were eerily similar to the Morphe 350 palette. Morphe palette has 15 additional shades though. I already had the Morphe palette so this was just an extra. I'm a makeup nut, so any make-up is good make-up. I just think they took the Morphe 350 color scheme and the name Holy Grail and slapped it on there thinking people would go crazy over it, and they did. If you have the Morphe 350 already or something similar just save your $50. It's not bad. I can definitely see myself using a lot of these colors for neutral and dramatic looks alike, but I personally don't think it lived up to the name. Judge for yourself. They are sold out, but plan to restock soon. Check out Violet Voss here.
