My goal over the last few months has been to bring awareness to certain products and methods that enhances your glam experience. I usually get advice requests or random method questions. I've recently noticed a trend in FAQ in relation to foundation application. A few glammies have found their Holy Grail foundation, but don't know what to apply it with. Most have a universal make-up brush. NO NO NO NO (and I am so straight-facing you right now). I gave two of my go to foundation brushes and the type of foundation that you would use it with so that you get a FLAWLESS, glam finish. Three different brushes in three different price ranges. Yes, I have tried all that I have recommended and these are my favs. Made it easy for you lazy shoppers. Click the picture for a direct link to the product to buy. You're welcome.
Stippling Brushes are best used to create a light "airbrush" finish to your foundation. They work best with light to medium coverage foundations (ex. CC creams, water-based products, drop applicator products etc.) This brush is great for glammies that don't like "heavy looking" make-up. It creates a second skin type of look. The way to use it is to apply the make-up on the face first and then use the brush to make windmill motions and move the product around the face.
Buffing Brushes are best for full coverage looks. They work well with full coverage cream and powder foundations (ex. MAC Prolongwear, Maybeline FIT Me Matte). My favorite brush right now is the MAC 128. It is a two sided buffing brush with which you apply the products with one side and use the reverse side to smooth (buff) out the product. It was meant for "contour and blush," but you know I'm always finding new tricks! This brush type is best for those with acne that they want to cover. It really packs on the product, but it doesn't allow it to look like you have "cake face".
